Series of events leading up to today’s date have been disturbing. The price of goods is inflated, and goods are not as frequently available. Most importantly, gasoline is twenty dollars a gallon, when you can get it at all. Tree of Life purchases gas in two-gallon batches, because larger purchases are dangerous. Thousands of Haitians have taken to the streets in protest causing many business closures and lack of supplies in hospitals. This protest is countrywide, affecting all major cities.
Source Matelas remains a safe enclave – our school was open last week, and all went well. Teachers and students alike maintained normal activities.
